Female MMA - Gina Carano vs Ronda Rousey?

Gina Carano vs Ronda Rousey?

While we know that Dana White would kill himself to do anything to make his "girlfriend" look better in the cage, this is ridiculous.
Or silly as Randy Couture put it.

Gina Carano-ufc women fighters-female mma fighters

Gina hasn't fought in over five years, after that crushing defeat by Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino.
To put her back in the ring and right in there with Ronda would be stupid.
And it would be a very hollow victory when she won.
Even though I'm sure Dana would tout it as the greatest win ever.

Maybe they need to put that fight on the back burner and focus on women like Amanda Nunes and Cat Zingano.
Ladies that are still actually fighting in the UFC.

Miesha Tate vs Rin Nakai at UFC Fight Night

On September 20th, 2014, Miesha "Cupcake" Tate is gonna take on Rin "I dont have a cute ring name because I dont need one" Nakai.
I swear this match up looks like a fitness model going up against a bodybuilder.
They will face each other at UFC Fight Night at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

Miesha Tate - Rin Nakai - women fighter - mma women fighters

Miesha is 14-5-0 and Rin is 16-0-1.
Miesha's wins have been 3 KO/TKOs, 6 Submissions and 5 Decisions.
Rin on the other hand has 4 KO/TKOs, 6 Submissions and 6 Decisions.
Pretty darn close huh?

Who's gonna win?
I have been wrong in every female MMA fight I can remember.
So there is no way I am calling this.
But just from their body types I wonder what kind of match up this will be.

Bethe Correia - Female MMA

Like the gunslingers of the "Old West", Bethe "Pitbull" Correia (9-0-0) has called out Ronda Rousey and her "Four Horsewomen".
I'm sorry, as a pro wrestling fan from way back I still have trouble typing that term associated with Rousey.
Anyway...like a gunfighter, Bethe said she was coming for Rousey and her title and she was gonna go through the Four Hor...the others to do that.
The thing is...she has already been through two of them.

Bethe Correia - Female MMA

Bethe has already taken out Shayna Baszler at UFC 177 and Jessamyn Duke at UFC 172.
That just leaves Marina Shafir....and Ronda Rousey.
So Bethe is moving up through the ranks.

Can she do it?
I dont know.
But it will be fun to watch.

Here's another picture of female mma fighter Rin Nakai.
This is the lady that Miesha "Cupcake" Tate will be taking on Saturday night at UFC Fight Night at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
Like I said before, her antics out of the ring may seem a bit weird to us, but she has a 16-0-1 record.

With all the other stuff going on I totally forgot (okay missed) that Michelle Waterson had her first MMA fight in over a year on September 6th, 2014.
At Invicta FC 8 - Waterson vs. Tamada, she defeated Yasuko Tamada (who was 15-8-3 going in).
This brings Michelle up to 12-3-0.
She is also still the Invicta FC Atomweight Champion.

Michelle Waterson-waterson mma-michelle waterson mma

A lot of people get all excited because Miesha Tate has won two matches in a row and they say that she is on a roll.
Michelle has won six in a row and she is the #9 ranked pound-for-pound female MMA fighter in the world by MMARising.com.
And yes, that's over Miesha.

Her current MMA record is 9-5-0 and before she was stopped by Tecia Torres at Invicta FC 7 - Honchak vs. Smith on December 7th, 2013, she was on a 4 win roll.
Yeah, it's been almost a year since she fought last, but you may have seen her on The Ultimate Fighter 20.

Female boxer turned UFC MMA fighter Holly Holm will debut at UFC 181: Hendricks vs. Lawler II on December 6, 2014 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Her opponent will be Raquel Pennington (4-4-0).
I have liked Holly ever since her boxing days.
She is 33-2-3 in boxing and 7-0-0 in MMA so far.
And yes...a lot of people are talking about Holly vs Ronda.
Which is a much better idea than Rousey vs Carano.

Marloes Coenen - The Best Female MMA Fighter?

$

Marloes “Rumina” Coenen was recently ranked number one by MMARising in it's Unified Women’s Mixed Martial Arts Rankings.
Female MMA Fighter Cristiane Justino, who was number one was removed due to inactivity and for vacating the division.
So 22-6-0 Marloes moves up to number one.
Oddly though, despite being number one there, Marloes is not even in their list of the "Top 15 Women’s Pound-For-Pound MMA Rankings".

Marloes last fight was a win over Annalisa Bucci at Bellator MMA - Bellator 130 on October 24th, 2014 at the Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane, Kansas.
She won via Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) in 57 seconds in the third round.

UFC 181 - No Holly Holm

Well I am sure you have already heard that Holly Holm will not be making her UFC debut tonight at UFC 181.
She had to pull out because of a herniated disc.
That's the bad news.

Holly Holm - women mma fighters - mma women fighters

The good news is that she has been cleared to resume training and is looking at making her debut sometime in February of 2015.
That's a shame because I was really looking forward to her UFC debut.
The Women's Bantamweight fight tonight will instead be Raquel Pennington (4-4-0) against Ashlee Evans-Smith (3-0-0).

One of the most popular women on this blog in 2014 wasn't one of the big names in Women's MMA like Rosey or Tate or Justino.
It was Angelica Chavez.
Yes the five foot one, 105 pound fighter out of Albuquerque, New Mexico was very popular here.
Angelica is currently 4-3-0.
She got off to a good start, but sadly her last three fights have all been losses.

Tonight starts the biggest female MMA weekend in history.

First up is Invicta FC 11 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles when Cris "Cyborg" Justino defends her Invicta Featherweight Championship against Charmaine Tweet.
Cris is 12-1-0 and Charmaine is 6-4-0.

Then tomorrow night at UFC 184 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, Ronda Rousey 10-0-0 will take on Cat Zingano 9-0-0.
Good news though...
At the UFC 184 Ultimate Media Day, Rousey actually took the time to shake her opponent’s hand!
Maybe Ronda is actually starting to show some sportsmanship!

Well we all know that UFC 190: Rousey vs. Correia, will be August 01, 2015 at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
We know that Ronda Rousey is 11-0-0 and Bethe Correia is 9-0-0.
We know there is a lot of bad blood there and Ronda has threatened to draw the fight out and punish Bethe, which I guess that means Ronda will run it up to the 2:30 mark of the first round.
Does Bethe stand a chance?
Well if you have read this blog, you know that so far I have NEVER gotten a prediction right, starting with me saying that Gina Carano would beat Cyborg Santos way back when.
So I ain't sayin' nothing.

UFC 190 - Rousey vs. Correia

There is another women's bout that night as well, with Jessica Aguilar (19-4-0) taking on Claudia 'Claudinha' Gadelha (12-1-0)
I ain't calling that one either.

Ronda Rousey vs Holly Holm at UFC 195

On Saturday, January 2, UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will take on Holly Holm.
Of course Ronda's unbeaten record is 12-0-0 with her last four victories coming in a combined 130 seconds.
Holly is 9-0-0 in MMA, but was 33-2-3 in boxing, which will make her the best striker that Ronda has ever faced.
And add to that, Holly is used to going 12 rounds in a fight, something Ronda's opponents never get the chance to do.

Paige VanZant - MMA Women

Five foot four, 115 pound, twenty one year old beauty Paige "12 Gauge" VanZant is one of the up and coming female MMA fighters in the world today. She's not only a cage fighter but a model as well.
And she's also a dancer, former cheerleader, ring girl and she plans to become a gourmet chef.
Sounds like she has a plan doesn’t it?

Paige started out in martial arts taking classes with her dad because he wanted her to learn and she had been on the receiving end of some bullying in school, so Paige gave it a shot. She became a ring girl but wanted closer to the action and finally got her wish, training first at the House of Ryu Gym in Las Vegas, and then with Team Alpha Male.

Paige had her first fight on June 30th, 2012 against Jordan Nicole Gaza at UWF - Tournament of Warriors Finale. She won that fight via Split Decision.

Paige VanZant - MMA Women

Her next fight was a Unanimous Decision win over Amber Stautzenberger at PFS - Premier Fight Series 2 on September 22nd, 2012.

Paige's first loss came at the hands of Tecia Torres on January 5th, 2013 at Invicta FC 4 - Esparza vs. Hyatt via a Unanimous Decision.

Her last fight was a win over Alex Chambers at UFC 191 - Johnson vs. Dodson 2 on September 5th, 2015 via Submission (Armbar)

Given time, I think Paige may be right up there with the big names in just a little while. The difference in her between her third and fourth fight was pretty incredible.
